Dr. Gülsüm Gündoğdu was born in Germany. After completing her primary education in Germany, she continued her studies at Ankara Anatolian High School. She received her B.Sc. degree in Physics Engineering from Ankara University in 2009, her M.Sc. degree in 2012, and her Ph.D. in 2018 from Hacettepe University, Department of Physics Engineering. She earned her master’s degree with the thesis titled “Designing, Preparation and Characterization of Dielectric Mirrors for Visible and Near Infrared Region”, and her doctoral degree with the dissertation “Crystal Structures Determination of Anticancer Active Fused Triazole Derivatives by X-Ray Powder Diffraction Method.” She was awarded the TÜBİTAK 2214-A International Doctoral Research Fellowship and conducted experimental research for one year at Ruhr University Bochum during her Ph.D. studies. Between 2018 and 2021, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Bilkent University National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM) and the Department of Chemistry, where she continued her scientific studies in the Karadaş and Okur research groups and participated in various projects. Since 2021, she has been working as a faculty member at the Turkish-German University. Her research focuses on crystal structure determination from X-ray powder diffraction, surface analysis, synthesis and characterization of phase change materials used in thermal energy storage, and simulation of perovskite solar cells using SCAPS-1D software. Her research interests include crystallography, materials characterization, solid-state physics, nanomaterials, thermal energy storage, and solar cell design.
