Dr Suna G. Aydemir Decker studied political science and public administration at Ankara University where she completed her master's degree with a dissertation on the subject of radical democracy and citizenship. She received her PhD in political science from the sociology faculty at the University of Bielefeld, with a thesis on the transformations of religious policy in modern Turkey. Between 2010 and 2013 Suna G. Aydemir Decker was project coordinator in the Turkey Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. She worked as an academic expert and assistant professor at the Social Sciences University of Ankara (ASBÜ) from 2014 to 2019, where she was also a researcher in the EduMAP Project (Adult Education as a Means for Active Participatory Citizenship, EU Horizon 2020). For her postdoc project on the transformation of Turkish curricula and textbooks she stayed for six months at the Georg Eckert Institute in Brunswick. Currently she holds the position of Assistant Professor at the Turkish-German University in Istanbul.
