SHORT CV

Between 1976 and 1983, he studied Chemistry at the Universities of Karlsruhe and Heidelberg and obtained an M.S. (Diploma) in Chemistry. In 1988, he received his Ph.D. from Heidelberg University. In 1996, he completed his habilitation in Physical Chemistry at Heidelberg University. Professional Experience: From 1988 to 1989, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Physical Chemistry at Heidelberg University. From 1989 to 1990, he was a guest researcher at the Osaka National Research Institute in Japan. From 1993 to 1994, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Solid State Physics at the University of Augsburg. In 1994, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Nuclear Solid State Physics at the Research Center Karlsruhe. From 1995 to 1998, he served as a lecturer at the Institute of Solid State Physics at the University of Augsburg. From 1998 to 2004, he was Professor of Analytical and Nuclear Chemistry at the University of Marburg and Co-Director of the Materials Science Center of Marburg University. Since 2004, he has been Professor of Materials Analysis at the Technical University of Darmstadt. He is also the Scientific Head of the Center of Competence for Materials Characterization. Furthermore, he serves as the spokesperson of the International Users Executive Committee of the GSI Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research.
