SHORT CV

Dr. Deniz Dursun was born in Istanbul in 1983. After graduating from the German School in Istanbul, she moved to Berlin to study law at the Free University of Berlin. After her first state exam in 2007, she went to Aberdeen for further studies and completed her LL.M. degree in European and International Law at the University of Aberdeen. In 2009, she returned to Berlin and began her doctoral studies at the Free University of Berlin. During her doctoral studies, she was a research assistant at the chair of Univ.-Prof. a.D. Dr. Dr. h.c. Dr. h.c. Philip Kunig. After her second state examination in 2013, she participated in the Blue Book Traineeship Programme of the European Commission in Brussels and worked for 6 months as a trainee at the Legal Service of the European Commission. After returning to Berlin, she worked as a lawyer at Hengeler Mueller Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB from 2013 to 2018. She interrupted her work for Hengeler Mueller as part of a secondment and returned to Istanbul in 2016 for one year and worked as a "Foreign Lawyer" at the law firm Kolcuoglu Demirkan Kocakli in Istanbul. In 2016, she passed the equivalence exams at Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir for the recognition of her university degree obtained in Germany. Since 2019, Dr. Deniz Dursun has been working as an independent lawyer. She is also admitted as an in-house lawyer at Getir Germany GmbH since 2022. She is a member of the Berlin and Istanbul Bar Associations. Dr Deniz Dursun has been a guest lecturer at the Turkish-German University since 2019 as part of the DAAD's Flying Faculty Programme. She lectures in the fields of international and European law.
