Professor Seher studied law, philosophy, and history at the University of Münster and completed his law studies in 1991 with the first state examination in law. After his second state examination (1996), he received his doctorate from the University of Münster with the thesis “Liberalism and Punishment. On Joel Feinberg's Philosophy of Criminal Law” (2000). He habilitated at Friedrich Schiller University Jena in 2007 with the publication “Imputation in Criminal Offences”. After holding interim professorships at the universities of Leipzig, Mainz, Cologne, and Freiburg, he was appointed Professor of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Philosophy of Law at Freie Universität Berlin in 2011. From 2019 to 2023, he served as Deputy Dean for Research before becoming the Dean of the Faculty of Law. In 2023, he assumed the office of Vice President in the Consortium of the Turkish-German University. He has also been the Faculty Coordinator of the Faculty of Law at Turkish-German University since then.
